Al_lafon, Somehow I guess you missed reading the part below when you read the Review as we ONLY used a 2-1/2 watt input/dead key swing of 8 watts peak for AM/LSB and USB Testing. From the REVIEW: The KLV-1000 was tested with a Texas Ranger 696F SSB Base Radio. The output was 8-watt peak. The 1st Sargant (Shirley) was kind enough to allow me to use her radio for this Review. I received this Amp as a Christmas present from the 1st Sargant. I have given it a rather long test and it has Performed Flawlessly in every aspect. Although the Owners Manual list's Input Power at 4 watts, I started with 3-1/2 watts and reports were that it sounded Pinched Up and Slightly Distorted. I also received the same reports with 3 watts with both the 1st Sargant and I testing it. I enlisted (asked) for Shirley's (1st Sargant's) help on testing this Amp as my voice is rather deep and hers is much higher pitched. And with both of us performing the test's, we were able to get a much broader response than just me testing it. When I backed the drive down to 2-1/2 watts we both received Excellent reports on Clarity and Loudness with No Distortation. All of the test's below were performed with a 2-1/2 Watt Input.
Output Levels Using Low, Hi & Hi –1 & Hi & Hi-2 | Position | | Input | | Dead Key | | PEP | Low | | 2.5 Watts | | 150 Watts | | 400 Watts | Hi & Hi-1 | | 2.5 Watts | | 350 Watts | | 700 Watts | Hi & Hi-2 | | 2.5 Watts | | 450 Watts | | 900 Watts |
| And with a DEADY KEY of ONLY 2-1/2 watts swinging 8 Watts PEAK I do not think 8 watts is considered a big audio swing on AM. So your "stock GE SuperBase" should work PERFECT with it. Lon Tech808 CEF808 N9CEF CVC#2 |
