Setup...Magnum S9 into a Palomar Elite 450HD into a Wilson 5000 roof mount. SWR's are 1.2:1 between amp and antenna, same whether amp is on or off. Power for amp is direct to the battery, for both the positive and the negative, with an additional ground from amp to seat frame. Have used both 6' and 9' jumpers. Now the problem...I am haveing an issue where the amp sometimes will not un-key when I get off the key. I am not long winded when this happens. If I quickly hit the key one time when this happens, the amp will un-key. I have not noticed any particular pattern for when this happens, nor does it happen all the time. I have noticed it happens more often when the amp is on high. Any suggestions? |

I dont know to much about amps but I took my Boomer 250 apart once just to see what was inside and there was a mechanical relay in there. Maybe yours is arching on high power and sticking? Again I dont know too much about electronics so I could be way off. |

If the SWR is good, I would say too much drive. How much dead key are you putting into it? |

DK is 1.5 watts with a swing to 48. Today, I switched back to the 6' jumper, and so far, it has not hung up. |

...and it probably won't. That's the fix I've heard of. |

Also, stray RF can actually cause this issue as well, make sure the amp is well grounded to the chassis of the vehicle as well as the radio using a flat braided copperwound cable. Good swr definately helps but cant prevent all external rf from getting into things. We recently solved a friends messenger unit from the same issue by doing the above mentioned..Kudos |
