i have 2 unidens with the same problem,
it's like rf is getting in on the audio on transmit. swr is 1:1 on a di pole, same thing in the truck at work swr is 1:1 on a wilson 2000

yes and moved that around to see if that was it and it's not a scream or feed back. it's when you key the mike and it has a whirl,but if you hold the mic wire and touch the radio it gets less and thats what makes me think it is rf.

how about changed or added finals, or something that altered the chassis' floating ground? or some other add-on not properly grounded? the chassis is not normally grounded to the dc ground.

sounds like its in the mike cord or maybe a
bad soldr on mike plug id try different mike
first. those old unidens have great audio even
stock. welcome 2 fourm

you have to try a different mic. best way to tell if its the problem.

sorry for being so late but, yes changed finals,mics,resoldered the plug. i even changed the filter cap next to the audio trans.

the pc66 i got this way and the pc78 just started it and i haven't used it that much. really haven't had the pc78 but a month or so but i got it off ebay.
