Someone gave this radio to my son. It has no name on it. Does anyone know what it is. See Picture Below. In case you can't read off the radio it has: am/fm/lsb/usb, 5 band selector, fine/course clarifier, mic/rf gain, mod/s/rf,nb/anl,+10kz, roger beep. It appears to have dual finals also, not sure about that as I have not cracked the radio yet. Mark |

5 band, it should be an original president jackson export. should have said it under the channel selector knob. the grant export had only 3 bands. the legal president/uniden grants didn't have FM. the jackson had an open clarifier, the grant needed to be modded(even on the export for some reason). the grant used dual 1969's for 25+ watts(up to 40), the jackson had a single mrf477 for 30 watts, 50 was possible if modded right. |

Patzerozero is right! Should say Jackson under channel knob. Top of the line under the Lincoln in price I believe. |

actually, hotwire, SOMEPLACE on this forum i posted the differences between the president grant & jackson EXPORTS. while you are correct in that the jackson is higher priced then the grant, the grant is by far a better radio in regard to xmitter & rcvr design & performance. the jackson just has more bells & whistles. the president george is a very popular radio just about everywhere but in the USA & i believe falls in between the lincoln & jackson, if not higher priced then the lincoln even. the lincoln is still the better performer. |

i've seen pics(drawings) showing the superstars with 'light'(silver) faces, but all the ones i've actually seen were black. also some said JA & GR only, not the full name. i tend to believe the 1 wildrat shows is an original. |

It appears to me that it is a good radio, least wise it was till I pulled the shaft out of the squelch. I have a line on another junked jackson so maybe it has the sq. pot on it. I have a 1976 Cobra 19 but I don't want to break it to get the pot out. I might check at the electronics store and see if they have a small pot. Maybe I will do that now. See y'all Mark |
