4:1 PEP to carrier. That radio is capable of 100% modulation up to about 5 watts of carrier - WITH the limiter properly adjusted. It doesn't need to be deactivated. I don't know how you're measuring the modulation, but if it's not with an oscilloscope then you are not going to get an accurate measurement. |

You do not have to do very much to a Grant XL for it to sound good. NPC mods are pretty cool but you don't even have to do that to the XL . I'd put the limiter back together , will mess up the audio on SSB as well )-: I dont know what kind of meter your using ? but chances are your way over 100% modulation with the clip )-: and theres really no such thing. Are you running a amp ? if the 2.5 watt DK is what you want ? with a ballpark 100% modulation you should see about a 10 watt swing with the limiter back in place. You can just let your amp take care of the rest.If no amp is used ? About 5 to 20 ballpark with 100% modulation would be nice . 4 to 1 That's a very well made receiving and transmitting radio that doesn't need to be raped. |
