How do you hook this up? http://www.copperelectronics.com/cgi-bin/checkitout/checkitout.cgi?catalogSTORE:CKIE:prodC70-05014+ I know the screw with the terminal goes to ground, what is the other screw with the nut on it for? Where all should I put these? I asked this before but I can't remember what I was told, and I can't find the post. Wildrat CEF674 EGCCC |

Wildrat, You would connect it DIRECTLY to your radio, Run a ground wire from the stud on the side to a ground, and then connect your coax to the other end. Honestly with the Polyphaser's you WILL NOT NEED IT. Like I said before the MORE stuff that you add that you Do Not Need is just more things that can go bad or cause problems later on for you. Hope this helps, Lon Tech808 CEF808 N9OSN |

In an earlier post you were telling to use them, maybe you did not know I had the polyphaser. Well that's good! There will be less wires running all over the place. Thank You! Wildrat

wildrat, DO NOT USE ONE OF THESE!!! have you seen sinker's post about what happened to his? one look at the picture and you will know not to use one of these. they are a marketing ploy just like the "through glass" CB antenna. what you are thinking of doing is not only unnecessary, (the polyphaser is what this thing wishes it was) it will make your system WORSE!!! DONT DO IT!!! matt |

Yeah, sounds as though they do a good job getting rid of static electricity but that is it and they are not rated for much wattage. That box you got with the Cobra on it would blow it into oblivion I bet which although might be neat to see would just get you off the air again and we DON'T want that. Hey I might be back on this weekend - Maybe.... |

I wasn't really even concerned with them being my defense against lightning. I was looking at them as being a convenient way of grounding my coax to give common mode currents a place to go so they would be happy and perhaps not harass my neighbors. Wildrat CEF674 EGCCC |

wildrat, they wont even do that! a length of 4ga. copper wire from the base of your antenna to the tower ground rods is what you want. the crimp connector on the side of that "thing" is only big enough to handle the aluminum ground wire that Rad shak sells. and we both know that you would melt that on the first CEF net you key up for! matt |
