I have a ping module I'd like to install in a radio. I want it set up so it "pings" when the mic is keyed. The radio its going in is a Cobra 25LTD classic. Any help is appreciated....Thanks |

It's been a while since I installed one of those, but if you could toss me the wire color codes I might be able to help better. I've had the single ping and double pings in a few radios many years ago. Trying to remember off hand. Should have 2 brown, 1 white, 1 red, 1 black and I think a blue or a green wire for the single ping module. The red can go to the power switch where you get the voltage or you can go to the back of the power plug and solder it there on the hot lead. The white goes to the audio, the black to the ground on the board or the mic plug ground, either way will work, the blue/green wire went to the TX on the back of the 4 pin male plug as well and the two brown went to the singe throw on/off switch you will need if you plan on wanting to turn it off some times, if not then just connect the two with solder and heat shrink tubing over the solder to protect it from shorting on the board. Let me know what you find out! |

I have a batch of 50 made, but nobody gets any until the installation instructions are finished. I'm in the middle of writing instructions for some higher-priced stuff, so the 'ping' keeps getting put off. No promises, but I wonder just how many of them would actually sell? Hmmm. I'll probably try Ebay first. It does have one odd 'option'. I put a variable control on the pitch of the thing. Turned all the way down, mine sounds like an arc-welder being struck. 73 |
