Does anyone know if this radio is for real or just some talk? If it is for real any idea when it will be coming out? Any specs on the dimensions? I am building the new housing for a radio for my truck. It will have fans that will help keep everything cool. I was going to build it to the S-9 dimensions but if they are really going to come out with the 175 watt version in February as rumor has it I will wait for it. Want to be the first kid on my block to have one ya know. Anyway, any information would be GREATLY appreciated. Tim CEF-634 |

Sinker, YES, it is for REAL and the S-6 and S-9 will both be manufactured in the HIGH POWER models. As I posted before direct from Sam Lewis they will be out the 1st part of 2006. They will be the same exact same face plate design but with a larger heat sink. Hope this helps, Lon Tech808 CEF808 N9OSN |

Thanks. Yeah I will have to wait and work in the heat sink to make sure it fits right and is a clean install. Will give me some time work on grounding EVERYTHING with ground strap. Do you think #8 wire will be sufficient for this installation ??? |

Hey 808 you seem to talk with Sam Lewis every so often or at least can talk to him. Is there a real full featured base radio going to be available anytime in the near future? I think there would be a good market for that high powered s-6 or s-9 in base trim. |

Sinker, UPDATE! Just got off the phone with Sam and the first HIGH POWERED 175+ S-6 & S-9 radios will arrive in the 1st Quarter of 2006. The nice thing is I will have one to review out of the 1st 10 Pre-Production models so I will have the dimensions / Size for you before the distributors get them so you can plan your installation. Skip, Below is a note I received from Sam back on Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at 9:14 AM. I just got off the phone with Sam and he says nothing has changed and he has no plans for a new base radio. Posted on Wednesday, December 29, 2004 - 6:28 pm: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Attention Copper Forum Member's, Below is a reply from Sam Lewis Owner of RF Limited / Magnum International answering a Question from one our Copper Forum Member's, "Stogie" that he received and asked me to post for him. ********************************************** From: "Sam Lewis" To: "Copper Talk" Sent: Wednesday, December 29, 2004 9:14 AM Subject: Re: Magnum Base? Good afternoon The S3200B is designed for 1 segment only of the market. The low end, least expensive market. The 3200B is the only low end model being marketed today. RCI, on the other hand makes about 10 variations of a high end only product. The market is jammed with these and distributors have a hard time "selling thru" these various models. In our estimation the "high end" is most saturated at this time. The base station market is less than 10% of what it used to be. This is easily seen by the demise of such ICONS as the Astatic line of D-104 desk top mikes and over 90% of base station antennas. In the past we have considered many innovative base station radios, results of further market research tell us it would be a total disaster. Thank you Sam Lewis Hope this helps, Lon Tech808 CEF808 N9OSN

Thanks Lon that would be sweet to have the info. Then as soon as they come out I order, it gets here and goes straight in the truck and then I'm Loud and Proud and no longer in an eaky squeaky mobile driving under the sand in mud duck land heheehe Hey do you get to keep those test rigs? I know when I am doing product testing I get to keep the items unless it is an engine or boat but rods, reels, lures etc., etc. they let me keep. If so then can I sign up to be a tester as well - of course the only problem I see is I have NO KNOWLEDGE of what the heck I would be talking about. Hmmmm - Might be a problem..... Tim CEF-634 |

Sinker, Sorry but NO, I do not get to keep them after the Review. Sam or Chris in CA. sends them to me to review and when I am finished I return them to Magnum or Chris in CA. And this way I am not Obligated to post anything on any product except the facts as I always post exactly what I actually find weather it is good or bad from my actual hands on use / testing with any product. Hatchet, Thanks, I am running wayyyyyyyyyy behind this morning. I either get the radios direct from Sam/Magnum or Chris and send them back to Sam or Chris when I am done or Vice/Versa. Lon Tech808 CEF808 N9OSN |
