I am sorry to bother you all with another question about the radio I wish I hadn't bought, but I couldn't find the info on my own. Is it possilbe to add talk back and/or a 10kc slide on my Midland 79-290? I thought probably not on the 10kc slide, but maybe on the talk back. Any help or info would be greatly appreciated.

Triplecguy,
I have a 79-290 but havnt done those mods to it.Myself I dont have any use for talkback in any radio.I do have radios that it was a standard"feature" but think manufacturing cost should have been saved or redirected towards something more useful.
check Mods.dk for the 10 kc mod,pretty sure that is where i have seen it.

To date,I have not been able to find a decent copy.The only complete schematic I have run across was a gif image(small) and wasn't legable when enlarged.I would still like to get a hold of one because I think that little radio has a lot of potential.

Hey guys, I have been looking for alignment info and other mods for over 4 years now and I can't find them. There used to be a website that had a lot of info on them but it's long gone. I have my 79-290 torn apart on my bench and I can't find any info whatso ever. I guess it's a loss. Oh well, least I have my 2 Magnum 257's now.
