I have a uniden washington, one of the 5 pin models. When you turn it on the rx/tx light is orange , keying the mic or even having a mic in the socket makes no difference. Any techs gotta clue on this one? DOne been over the board havent found any visibly burnt parts |

i think you need to give us more details. does the S meter move over when you turn on the radio? does it show any wattage output on a wattmeter? be as specific as you can. it could be as simple as someone tried to rewire the inside of the mic plug in the radio. look at the back of the mic plug, there will be a small PC board attatched to the pins, and wires attatched to the board. its pretty easy to tell if someone has been in there because its a tight fit with a soldering iron and there will most likely be melted insulation on some of the wires in the area. also the solder connections will be noticably tampered with. if this is the case, they switched the TX and the RX wires. i dont know the colors, but at least its a place to start looking. this radio uses diodes to switch from RX to TX, and i guess they could be blown. you will need a schematic to find out which diodes they are. hope this helps, matt |

the s meter does not move at all. It shows no output at all on an external meter. I have a small chop so im familiar with the radios, but havent seen this before |
