Well folks tomorrow is the day when the MAGNUM S-6-80 should arrive at my doorstep from Magnum International via UPS for a Review. This is the MAGNUM S-6-80 with (1)- ERF-2030 Pre-Driving (1)- 2SC2314 Driving (2)-ERF-2030 Finals with an output of 80 watts. It will be interesting to see if this MAGNUM S-6-80 radio will reach the Magic 100 Watt PEP mark. As of now the only thing I know for sure is Sam recommended that when I am reviewing / testing it that I use 14.2 Volts Input Power to see the Maximum Output Power. I will keep everyone updated when I have more information to post. Lon Tech808 CEF808 N9OSN |

Why 14.2? You will have a hard time seeing that voltage in a mobile situation. I would think for a fair review the voltage should be kept at 13.8v. |

Hatchet, Thats an easy question to answer from my post above. As of now the only thing I know for sure is Sam recommended that when I am reviewing / testing it that I use 14.2 Volts Input Power to see the Maximum Output Power. I guess if I just wanted to see the 80 watts I would not need to use 14.2. Maybe I will wait until the radio actually arrives to check it out and see what it does with 13.8 and 14.2 watts of input power and what the difference is. Lon Tech808 CEF808 N9OSN

Kd4amg, There is NO Outside Difference in apperance between the Regular MAGNUM S-6 and the MAGNUM S-6-80. Just CLICK on the LINK below for a COLOR picture of it. Magnum S-6 10 Meter Mobile Radio And the only difference inside should be the (1)- ERF-2030 Pre-Driving (1)- 2SC2314 Driving (2)-ERF-2030 Finals. So the rest of the specs should be the same and I will post what I find in the REVIEW. As far as I know this is one of the 1st ones as it arrived today from Chris in CA. I should have some results from testing it and doing the Review on it in 3 or 4 weeks to post for the Copper Forum Members. Lon Tech808 CEF808 N9OSN |

I've been thinking of toying with the pre-driver and driver/final combo on my Galaxy 77. Then moving on to the S-9. I thought about using the 2SC2314 also. Nice to see that my mind was on the right track there... Can't wait to see the results from this radio. Been thinking about the new S-9 anyway... |
