I have a President Washington base that has low receive, I can hear station that are about 2 blocks away or so but nothing else, I tried cleaning the relay and still the same..Any Ideas would be appreciated..The RF meter does not indicate any stations are being received?? First thing is to make sure your not having a coax or antenna problem. Did you try other radios on the antenna and coax? |

I did install another radio and the antenna and coax is fine.. I am sure it is the Washington that has a problem..Thanks for the response.. I must have a resistor that is open or a bad electrolitic in the RF section?? Any more ideas would be appreciated.. |

Sounds like what's called the rf amp. I don't remember the tr # offhand but if you can find a block diagram on one of the cb sites it will point the # out. It's usually a 2sc 1674 tr. If that's not it check the ta 7222 audio chip bolted to the side of the case. Hope that helps. Semi |

if the 1674 is bad replace it with a 2sc2999 |

have you done a recieve alignment on it yet? this would be my first step. the info should be around on the net for which coils to turn. have you gotten a radio check with it? does it transmit normally? these radios have a FET front end in them and it could very well need replacing. they get damaged by too strong a signal, or by static. i would find a SAMS manual on *bay, and go from there. matt |
