I was wondering if the variable RF power control setting on the front of a Galaxy DX-979 can be used to set the dead key power output for use with an amp?

Cool, so that takes care of that issue. I was thinking of building a power switch to cut it by half, but thin I noticed it had the RF control. I guess the switch would be more full proof, but I will only be using the amp when im out in the desert. Otherwise I run stock in town. Thanks for the info |

Just be careful also that your radio doesn't have to much swing to it. That could also hurt a 1-4 watt input amp. |

Stupid question but....didn't know the 979 had variable power? Thought that was a standard CB type accepted and not 10 meter? Your not talking about RF "gain" are you? Again..sorry for the question but IS an IMPORTANT difference! Hank |
