I thought it took the same mods as the 2000/148 chassis? I could be wrong and someone correct me if I'm wrong. I'd do a google search and see what you come up with. Slim CDX285 |

sorry about the delay wildrat, friday is my day off and i only have net access at work. so here we go: the 2010gtl is supposed to be the same chassis as the 148/2000gtl chassis; so you are correct there slim1. (BTW, the knobs arrived on friday, mucho appreciado!!!) however, if you compare the specs betwwen the two, this is what you get: (the specs not listed are the same for both radios) COBRA 2000GTL ///\\ COBRA 2010GTL 18 IC's 12 IC's 6 FETs 3 FETs 76 Transistors 58 Transistors 93 Diodes 79 Diodes From this alone, we can conclude that they are not the same chassis, yet are very similar. INTERMODULATION DISTORTION: 2000GTL-SSB 3RD AND 5TH ORDER -25DB 7TH AND 9TH ORDER -35DB 2010GTL-3RD ORDER -25DB 5TH ORDER -35DB (no 7th and 9th order) as far as mods go; all the part numbers are supposedly the same and the mods for the 2000gtl should work for the 2010gtl, but i have never opened one up so i cant say for sure. since there is a LCD readout, im going to guess that there is a microprocessor in there instead of the MB8719, but i could be wrong. if you'd asked my opinion on this radio, i would tell you that i have never dealt with or heard one that i know of, and the guys that have told me about them did not like them, and said that they are not as good as a 2000gtl. i wish i could help you more, but that's all i know, matt

Thats ok, I was just wondering whats out there for it. I bought this radio new from Copper a few years ago. I will be using one of my mobiles for my base radio anyway. Wildrat CEF674 |

Well I dragged the 2010 out of the closet, I guess I'll set it up alongside my mobile on the desk. It has the weather stuff on it so that would come in handy during hurricane season. I'll have to look to see how to do the chanell mod and whatever else. i used the radio for awhile when I first got it, everyone said it sounded good, especially after I put a good mic on it. Then when I got another radio I let my boy's use it on a homebrew antenna I made out of copper tubing. They talked all over on it. I think I might put one of my marine radio's on the desk too. I have an antenna for a car/boat. I might put it on the tower, you never know I might here a boater in trouble one night, or the wife might here me one night if I ever get back to boating again. cool idea! have you done any mods to radios in the past? if ive already asked you this, i apologize. if you have, open up the 2010 and tell me what PLL is in it, and if there is a 11.3258 crystal near it. if so, then i can give you lots of mods to make that radio sound its best on transmit AND receive! later, matt |

Ok KV as soon as I get situated here in my corner I'll take a look at the 2010. I have done mods in the past. I used to be OK at electronics but after getting out of the military, getting older, not putting a lot of time into the hobby I have become pretty rusty, some stuff is coming back. I just don't have a good memory any more with these drugs.I could do something today and not remember how too do it the next day, thats probably a little exagerated but it's pretty close. Oh Well Wildrat CEF674 |

Thanks, KV, the drugs are an everyday thing, whenever I want to do something, i have to take them or I'd never get started, like right now, after yesterday just putting in the ground rods and mounting the polyphaser I feel like something run me. I had planned on going to the ham fest in Sarasota but now I don't want to do anything, the wife is even wanting to drive me, I may have to go just to get her off my back. Well I'll talk to ya later.
