What makes the I-Max a better antenna than the A99? I know the A99 is a half wave, and the I-Max is 5/8th's wave. I opened the I-Max box and I see white fiberglass pole like the A99, and the mounting is different on the I-Max. Also is ita good idea to put some more resin on the fiberglass? And, should I put something on the threads of the antenna, and on the 259 connector? Thanks, Wildrat |

So Lon/Tech808, I read the review. So is the I-Max a good antenna, or should I have gotten something else? I had an A99 with GPK for several years and was happy with it till last year when the storm bent the pole in half and it came crashing to the ground. I thought an I-Max would be an upgrade based on what the other members say about the antenna. Sounded like to me I would be pleased, and then yesterday reading about bending the ears up till the 4 rods were at 30 degress I was very happy that I would be talking all over the place again. I think you have an I-Max so I figured that it must be a good antenna, and you get high winds also and it's survived. Well I got it now so it's what I'm going to have to use till I win the lottery and the chances of that is slim to none. I want to get on the air again so I can talk to you all on Sunday. Bruce,Starface,Sinker maybe, and whoever else may be in the area, and then there are the out of state stations that I would like to chat with. I may put me up a di-pole for 27.115, or make me one of those Yagi's or whatever they are, or buy one of those di-pole that the makers claim to cover the entire band. We should have a Copper fest, then I could come up and listen to ya'll talk about radio and learn alot more first hand. Plus being able to see people that I call friends because they are on the radio. I guess you could call us a "CB Band" of Brothers. I guess I better get back outside and finish putting the boat horns on my Jeep. Wildrat |

You are going to like the Imax 2000. I have one also and suffer the same weather as Lon. I also have an open feild to the north so the winter winds are un blocked, almost a year now and no ill effects. Although mine is not up as high as it should be I have made many contacts even during "pile ups" Chad |
