I need a excellent realistic sonding 4 pin mobile mic, I can solder also, I am getting an order together now, 8:36 pm tuesday. I will ckbackin a minute. |

Wildrat,,
All of the Hand Mics that Copper carries will work great depending on what kind / type of Mic you want to use and what features you want in the mic, like: Echo, Noise cancelling, Power Mic or a stock mic replacement.
Since you do not mention what kind / type of radio or what type mic you are looking for what is wrong with the Stock Mic for the radio?
Mics are like Radios EVERYONE likes to use a Different Mic for different radios and setups.
Personally our choice is the DM-452 hand mic.

I hear ya, I know I did not care for the 636L on the S9, everyone was complaing my mod. was low even when the gain was up, and I did have it on my lips. I tried my other mic's with differing complaints. I put my oolllllddddd Cobra power mic on the S9 and suddenly everyone was happy. I was happy yesterday about noon driving the jeep west on gulf to bay in Clearwater, Florida and made a contact with a fella in Arkansas called himself (555). I was thrilled, even called the wife.That has nothing to do with the mic. I went ahead and ordered the D104 mobile mic. and a bunch of other stuff since I got the OK from the Boss. All I have left to get now is some rope for the pole, and I'm just waiting for people to wake up in the time zones west of me. So I will use the 636L in noisy conditions, and the 104 when sitting in the driveway, or windows up.

NOBODY seems to have much luck with the 636L on ANY of the magnums. have tried astatic road devil noise cancel power mic on S9. UMMMM, yes it works REAL good, even in noisy environment. also have dm452 on it for son, HE sounds good on it, have also tried OLD turner M+2, M+3, d104m & 575, all with excellent results. as for base mics, turner +2 & shure 526t SMOKE, supersidekick was good, too, but i didn't like 'tone/sound' of my audio, +3 didn't sound right unless mic & radio gains were backed WAY down, then i think it was neck & neck with the stock mic... |

I guess I'll hook-up the d104 mobile, and the 636L to the S9. Then when I get to it I will get a 12"X2"X3" aluminum hobby box and install 10ea. 4 pin mic connectors, and 10ea. 5 pin mic connectors down the other side. Then on one end of the box I will put a mic cord to connect to one of the S9 mic connectors. Then I will get all my mic's hook them up and wait for people to complain then go thru them one by one till I get to one that pleases that person. Then I'll take a labeling gun and put their name by it. That way I can please everyone. |

I you want realistic sound I'd suggest an electret or straight dynamic element. By straight I mean one that doesn't have a taylored response like the Heil or one used in a noise cancelling microphone.
Electret microphones seem to have the flattest response. Most FM rigs seem to come with microphones that use electret elements although I don't know if it's because of the flat voice response or the cost - they're VERY inexpensive. |

On a Magnum it's hard to find a power mike that will outdo the stock mike. At least that has been my experience. D-104, superside kick too much on the Magnum Omega. The Superstar DM 452 with echoe off and modulation jacked up inside really rocks and gets good reports from locals. Of course the stock mike will more than do the trick.
I find that the Dm 452 mike improves most radios modulation, especially the untuned radios. Makes mobiles sound like rolling bases and the mike is very inexpensive to own.

I tried the stock mic all I got was can't hear you,your modulation is low. I tried the 452, just more moaning and groaning. The old Cobra pwr. mic at the moment seems to meet the bill. I have it on about 3 and the gain on the S9 about the 10-11 o'clock pos. I got my Copper delivery about an hour ago and it has my d104 in it, so I will let you know what the report is on it. It may be with the mic'c ismy voice. My voice is a deep, southern, authoritative kind of accent. So could be just the mic's and how they want to reproduce the noise I make. Oh Well, I'll let ya'll know, I still need to open my Copper box. It's driving my wife nuts because I have not opened it yet. I figure everything is there, I don't need it right now, so whats the hurry.

Hooked up the d104 mobile, have had no complaints about this mic yet. I like the feel of it in my hand also. So I guess this one might be a keeper. I guess I will no for sure once the base is up and running and I can hear it for myself.
