Has anyone used an S-9 as a base station? If so, what were the pro's and con's?

All pro's...No cons.. Realize that you will have to do the 11meter mod to use it as a CB...easy enough really. Also remember that you would need to buy a power supply as well. Hank (I guess the Cobra 29 idea is out huh? ) |

Sconover, Vanillagorilla / Hank is 100% Correct! ALL PRO's and NO CON's. From my Review on the MAGNUM S-9 Radio, FINAL COMMENTS With well over 1000 hours now of this radio being on and used on AM and SSB and FM from a Power Supply and in Mobile Use it far surpasses any of the 100's other radios I have ever tested or used over the years. scott scott scott CANNOT go wrong with the S9 mobile or as a base. mine IS at my base, too nice to put in the truck at this point . 35 mile base to base AM contacts in OUR 'noisy' environment is no problem. SSB 50+ base to base is easy as well. at night when it's quiet-WOW! |

..just a thought..picked up a hardly used (really...still smells new!)Delta Force blue yesterday...WOW! What a rig! A Local Conneticut homebander I talk to from across the sound (I'm on LI) told me last night that I sounded like I do when I run the Palomar 225/Galaxy Pluto on low pwr (30wDK swing 70w+) I had Magnum Delta radio set at 9dk swing to 35+ with the stocker mic! Delta gave 1/2 S-unit less signal but was LOUDER and cleaner .First time I talked to this guy barefoot since the S9! GO MAGNUM!!! Just a thought to possibly save you a few bucks (almost $100?)and sound as good as the S9!!! Only small gripe is no open clarifier BUT you can tune in 1khz steps through the "func" mode..easy enough for me! Since I don't see a "product review" on this set I should post one soon! Can't say enough about this rig~Let me work it out in stock form for a bit and I'd love to post a review on it. Magnum Delta Force...consider it... From what I see...its an UNDERPRICED rig considering whats out there damanding MORE money! Hank '905 |

delta force i BELIEVE has finally ceased production. BETTER choice is (new model) OMEGA FORCE, has all the xmit goodies & set up like the S9. delta had no 'topgun', but still definitely a better performer then the run-of-the-mill dual final exports. MY OPINION is the S9, being more CB-oriented is easier to operate mobile, as a base, shouldn't make a bit of difference |
