The Uniden PC68 Elite? This is my second option for the car. First is the Magnum 257, this would be my second one but I am becoming discouraged with the lead out time, I could have swore it was October, now I read November. I really don't need the features of the 257 in this appication, it's just a commuter and will be used mostly on CH19 AM. I just like the power and audio on the 257. I also like the weather band feature on the road. I missed it when I added the 257 to my truck and now I'm spoiled with it again. I've never owned a Uniden and thought I'd give it a shot, I considered the Cobra NW sereis, (want good illumination) but the uniden matches my interior lighting! I'd go with the 78 elite but the 68 looks smaller and space is at a premium. How tough it it to get the Unidens to respond to a lower dead-key to drive a KL40 or 60? Is there a way to make an L-pad for RF like we do in audio using say, 50 ohm 10W carbon resistors, or am I dreaming? This would seem as a 6DB pad and lower me down to 1W key, and with a little work I MAY get it to the point to drive the amp nicely and not over drive it. Any input would be appreciated, If Copper does have the PC68Elite does the 40 dollar rebate still apply? Chad |
