What are ya'lls thoughts on this 1) dacron- uv protected, last 4ever for quite awhile anyway, has some stretch, cost a little more. 2)kevlar/dacron- uv protected, last 4ever again for quite awhile, does not stretch, cost a little less, and is stronger/size Wildrat |

Yea, I think I am going with the Kevlar, I think I will get the 500' roll so I don't have any splices in the runs. This time I am going with a tripod on the roof and a 30' pole with a 10' ext. and two sets of 4 ropes each at different heights on the pole. I should be pretty wind proof then not unless we get a direct hit from a cat.3,4,5 storm. My antenna went down last year due to the galvanized guy wire. The saly ate it. I guess I will put some more resin on the I-Max before I go up with it for added strength and durability in the sun. I think I will goto West Marine and see if they have a UV additive to put in the resin. Oh well got the gpk coming too, then I'll do Lon/Tech 808 mod to the ears on the gpk, run the 213 Lon recommended I use, find me a new corner in the house so I don't disturb the wife at night when she is trying to sleep then I'll join the CEF group and start yakking again. I did make a contact in arkansas today in my jeep in the middle of the day. Mr. 555 in arkysaw. Bye, Wildrat |

Well, I just ordered 500' 0f kevlar rope, 1/8", 700# holding strength. I will put the I-Max in the center of the roof, and run Four X 2 lines NSEW. That should hold the thing in some pretty good winds, not unless I get a direct hit from a Cat 3,4,5 storm, and then it should take a Cat 3. I won't have to worry about tightening lines as the Kevlar rope does not stretch. So after getting the antenna up I should not be on the roof again for quite sometime I hope. Wildrat |

The guy told me one would be enough, I think if I have enough I will double up on them. Wildrat |

I probably would triple them on the tower install since it will catch wind more, I am putting a pole up so I may go single maybe double depending on how much of the 500' I have left. Wildrat |

I have a pair of boots where the shoe strings break all the time. KEVLAR ROPE works great for sturdy dandy boot strings also....LOL |
