I have an amp that is using 6LF6 tubes. Manual says it can use 6KD6 tubes also. If I have a tube go bad, can I mix these types of tubes without damage or do they all have to match? Thanks |

should use matched sets, & there also may be mods neccessary when tube types are changed-as well as tube BRANDS in some cases...follow the manual recommendations |

You CAN mix. You SHOULD match. If you lose a tube and the set (tubes) is older then I'd replace all, if you lose one out of a new set (stuff happens) then you can replace one. Dramatic tube failures can cause massive problems, it's better to be safe then sorry. I'd replace them all, fresh tubes are good! Test and save the best ones. If it's an old set and they fail one at a time ofer a course of time and you replace one at a time you will have a rig with tubes that will never be matched and you may encounter problems. |

6kd6 and 6LF6's will cause you no problems if you mix them. Been there done that, for many years. slowhand |
