Ok I have 2 uniden grant XL's I want to turn the power down to work an amp. Both of the radios are made in the Philippines. I looked in the modifications section I seen there were two types Grant (1005002) and (8719 PLL). with (1005002) AM power VR 10 and for the SSB power VR 11. With (8719 PLL) AM and SSB for the power it's VR 11. How can I tell witch one do I have? And witch ones to adjust for the power on AM and SSB. checked out the search section but I seen alot of information but it does not help me out. Len CEF# 189 So,Minnesota

Leonard, Remove the Speaker side cover of the radio and check the Number stamped on the PLL it will say 858 or 8719. Hope this helps, Lon Tech808 CEF808 N9OSN |

Here's an easier way - are the knobs all in one row or are they in two rows on the left side of the radio? If they're all in one row it's a Grant XL or LT. If they're in two rows it's either the original President Grant, the 1005002 President Grant, or the 1005002 Uniden Grant. |

Lon How do Identify the PLL I don not have any kind of person that works on radio here anymore so I hsve to wing it. A couple years ago we had a tec on the forum that did work on radio for us on the forum but he was kicked off for reasons I don't know. Nobody does this anymore,I think its more of a information and do it your self forum and thats Ok I guess. Hollowpoint All the knobs are in a row the volume/squelch and rf gsin/swr cal are peggy backed the rest are not. The microphone plug is on the side of the radio. All I want to do is turn down the watts so I will not damage my kl400 I am going to try it see how it works. I may not even like it and take it out who knows. But Thank you Lon and Hollowpoint for your time. Len CEF#189 |

"All the knobs are in a row the volume/squelch and rf gsin/swr cal are peggy backed the rest are not. The microphone plug is on the side of the radio." You have a Uniden Grant XL. |

VR-10 is the AM power and VR-11 is the sideband power. |
