It depends on the radio and how it was done. What radio are you asking about? |

Mostly all of the ten meter radios still work well on 10 meters after the 11 meter conversion. The conversion doesn't take away 10 meters. |

I don't think it's the radios fault 1516, I haven't heard any 10 meter action yet, except for beacons. |

Never having converted a Galaxy I looked at the conversion information available from the menu at the left and it seems that the Galaxy 88 is easily reversed if you so choose. Good luck following a conversation with that radio. Galaxys are known for their frequency drift although I understand that newer board designs are better than the older ones. Additionally, amateur use isn't channelized like this radio, and it's likely that you'll need to tune around with the clarifier to find a SSB conversation. Try from 28.3 to 28.5 where SSB phone is allowed for all HF licensees. |

Personally I never heard anything on 10 meters on a Galaxy anyway. I could switch over to my 2970 or S9 and hear things I couldn't hear on the Galaxy. Even though the Galaxy had been professionally tuned and aligned. The S9 is out of the box, and the 2970 was owned by an older HAM... |

also look USB on 10 meters, not the usual LSB used on CB. tune clarifier to '0' freqs, not '5' freqs like CB channels, better chance of hearing something. around 2011 when sunspots are going CRAZY, you'll hear 10 meter activity-SKIP-on your galaxy, CW as well as SSB. |

"..also look USB on 10 meters, not the usual LSB used on CB. tune clarifier to '0' freqs, not '5' freqs like CB channels..." Uh huh..mmm hmmm noticed that myself Seems a LOT of 27.4+ freqs use USB and are slid off to "0"...not just 10m. |

I'm not 100% about 10 meters, but I don't think most Galaxy radios even cover the complete 10 meter band anyway, before or after conversion. |

even our glorious S9's won't cover all of 10 meters in the standard export mode. you gotta put jumper 3 back on & do the 26-32.99 mod without channel # display to get all of 10. |

um yes pat they will cover all of 10. Just program it right, mine does 26.065-29.655 (29.975 with +10KC, 29.980 with +10KC and slider up), that's not quite ALL of 10 meters, but if I wanted I could have 26.515-30.105 That IS all of 10 meters Plus some! Either way, you get 10 meters, 11 meter freeband and CB! BC |

I messed up, It's 29.665 with 10KC and 29.670 (or so) with 10 KC and slider. The 10 meter band stops at 29.700 according to the ARRL allocation list, that is pretty darn close! BC |

your son must have his fingers in your eyes, bc, then again, rereading it, i didn't type everything i was thinking because my son was rushing me out the door to his lacrosse game... i said 'S9's won't cover all of 10 meters in the standard export mode'-so, perhaps worded incorrectly. in the standard export mode it only goes to 29.205 + 10kc. if you either PROGRAM it to skip other bands, you can cover to 29.655 by including band I, up to 30.105 by adding band J, or the ever popular(but not here )26-32.99. as for galaxy covering all of 10m, i don't remember which goes where, but i know there was at least 1 that went below 12 meters into low or mid 24 mHz(95t maybe?), as well as at least 1 that does the 29.655 thing, too. |
