Hi all. I haven't been active on 10M in several years. I made the mistake of selling my HR2600 about 8 years ago and now I'm cursing myself. Anyway, the 257 looks like a great radio, but the wait for new one is quite long (November!). I'd like to be able to operate FM and SSB (I hold an advanced class) as well as hear down into 11M if I really wanted to. The Delta Force looks tempting, but seems on the large size for my mobile install. Does anyone know the dimensions of this radio? I'm tempted to get an old HTX-100 from ebay, but I'd rather by new - I'd also rather have a radio with a little more umph. Ideally, I'd like to stay as close to $200 as possible. Any suggestions? Thanks, JD |

How about an RCI 2950? but around 250 bucks. It looks more like an amatuer radio than a cb. Some amatuers really like the president Lincoln. I own 2 HTX-100 radios, no FM and not many features, but they work good. I have a Connex 4800 and when conditions are here I go up on 10 meter FM and listen to the hams on the repeaters, very clean. The 4800 has a sweet reciever and not to shabby a transmitter at all. Though these are exports and I think most hams prefer sets like Icoms kenwoods and Yaesus. |

I've heard mixed things about the receiver on the 2950 - also, I think they're also out of stock. The connex doesn't have a repeater offset, so that's out. The reason that the Delta Force looked appealing was because of the offset feature in addition to being able to do SSB (like the 257). I'm looking at 10M units because the multiband amateur gear is a little too pricey for me to justify having in the mobile. Thanks, JD |

I must have seen the link from the discontinued version (pre-DX). Here's a question - does this model come with the "expansion board"? I have read confusing things (in addition to the so-so comments about this radio's receiver) about different versions of this radio being sold: some with and some without the expansion board. |

I'd suggest you find a nice used HR-2600 that hasn't been modified for 11m. And if you want to use it on 12m too look into the Chipswitch. Once you've used an HR-2600 for 10 meters you'll be disappointed with everything else. It was truely made for 10 meter amateur use right out of the box and nothing made since is comparable. |
