Outcast, Welcome to the Copper Forum! and Welcome to the CEF Radio Club! If it is working good and you are happy with it then that is all that counts. If you are happy with the performance of the 148GTL then you may look at a larger amp to go with it. Thats about the only thing I can think of to suggest. Lon Tech808 CEF808 N9OSN |

I have absolutely no complaints about the preformance but you know how it goes always seeking more more more. I think the next thing I need to invest in is a better antenna, not quite sure what to go with, I have had wilson 1k 2k 5k never was really happy with any of them but am now using a el-cheapo penatrator antenna that seems to be working better than expected. What would be a good mobile antenna with a good db gain for a reasonable price? |

is that the small open air coil penetrator that looked like the old antron A3000/A3000 gold? you know, looks like the baby brother to the big skipshooting open air coil antennas? they were better performers then the enclosed-coil types, like wilson & k40's. possibly due to the larger physical size of the coil windings? |

I am not sure, this is trully just a cheapy I picked it up at a local ham radio reatailer for like 27.99 or something it has about a 6 inch shaft then it goes to a 6 inch coil thats about 1/8" thick then maybe another foot of shaft and then a 3 foot stinger. Works well but I know there has to be something better just not sure what. |

in terms of antenna, bigger is better, but believe it or not, that is probably a fairly decent antenna you have there |

It does seem to do the job, but I am always looking to upgrade everything got more out of what I have you know, I rarely keep the same setup for long. |
