I put up my IMAX 2000 yesturday. I'm using my ranger's 2950 swr meter thats built into the radio. For those of you who are familiar with these radios, when i dead key, none of bars light up, when i talk one bar will flash when i whistle they all light up...is this normal?

i have checked my 2950 against my other meter and on mine, 2 bars meant about a 1.5 to 1 SWR ratio.
so yours is about as flat as youre ever going to get it. probably about 1.2 to 1.
nice job!

Yes, its AM. I've been away from CB for so long, that i didnt remember how to use my SWR meter, lol. Thank god for the internet i got directions. I used my old midland swr meter and its in the red! right under 3. My buddy turned the rings when he was helping me put up the IMAX. I thought i put them back where they were but i guess not...I'll go up today and retune it.

It could be that when you are talking you are generating harmonics that the antenna will not resonate at. Do you have clipped limiters or any other "performance mods?"

Oops, also note that for increased power output (modulation) the meter is not accurate as it needs to be re calibrated. Although mine never swings up that much.
