I have been using my superstar gold face 3900. I may need to get a new radio if i can't figure out whats wrong with my 3900. My question is, what is a good radio, equivelent to my 3900 or better, below a couple of hundred, and easy to modify, ie: extra channels, clarifier, roger beep, 10k slide, modulator, I guess near about anything that can be done to it. I like my 3900 i've had it for nearly a decade, so it's like part of the family. I am kinda frazzeled about the radio too. I have been having fusions done to my back but I finally gotten strong enough to go out and install my equip. in my new jeep, which has taken me all week to do because of my useless back. Now the radio wants to be grouchy. Maybe it's something simple but I do want to get some feedback on a good modfiable radio.I do run a texas star modulator and amp, so the radio needs to put out a watt and a half to drive the modulator. |

Hey Wildcat, Just a thought but Copper sells the Superstar 3900 for $139.99 and $30.00 to modify and tune. Seeing how the superstar is part of your family. How did the fusion go? I had 3 fusions done to my back in July. Anyway thought I just let you know that Copper sells your radio brand and hope you are doing well. stickman |

Well the 3900 is a part of the family and will continue to be even if it's still broke. The good news is I have adopted a S9 from copper that should be here in a couple of days. The back is another story. I had two disk fused in Dec. 04, and Aug 10 I had a third disk fused. So from L3 down I am titanium and bone. It still hurts, I take methadone every day, which is probably why my 3900 died, and why I can't concentrate on things for very long. But it'll get better. I did tell the surgeon to connect a antenna connector to my fusion so I could transmit and receive. Bye |

Sorry "Wildrat" my mistake on the username (wildcat) I guess I am in the same situation on the concentrating thing (10-4). I hope the S9 works out for you as well as the fusion. |

I've not yet received the S9, tomorrow is the day. By this time tomorrow i should be able to tell what the outside of the box says, then Thursday morning about 9am I should be ready toturn it on, then in another hour I should have the antenna adjusted, but then there is the trailer that the wife wants me to get ready for Biketoberfest in Daytona. The trailer will probably be 3 day job, the getting up and down stuff kills me. Oh Well I'll let ya'll know. I'm trying to figure out which mic I want to use, or use this as an excuse to get a new mic for the new radio. I just don't know, now if ya want to come over and help me rewire this trailer and put the bike chocks on, and climb up and down the ladder making minute adjustments on the antenna, we can get this stuff knocked out. Over, Wildrat |
