The day finally arrived and the big brown truck brought me my Lincoln. I want to mod it for 11 meters but it has a different chip in it than listed on coppers page. It has a UC-2876 not the UC-1201a. So my question is how does this one mod? I did see on coppers mod page and that info didn't really help. Connecting TP 307 and 302 as listed did nothing. The 2nd mod says connect R-# to D-# however there are no R #'s printed on the board. I emailed Rogerbird and he replied that he'd never heard of this chip, sooo hmmm... Anyone that might point me in the right direction? |

Do you need to reset the CPU after doing the channel mod? If so how? Pins.. it looks like the same number of pins as the standard chip i'd have to open it back up to count them |

heres what i found, Remove the cover on the speaker side of the radio. You will need to loosen the 4 screws (2 on each side) that secure the SYNTH PCB Frame to the chassi. - You do not need to remove these screws - You need to remove the 4 screws that secure the SYNTH PCB to the metal frame. Now flip the SYNTH PCB over, Locate the pins of the Microprocessor. In some versions of the HR2510 there may be Grey Epoxy covering one end of the Microprocessor. You may be able to peel the epoxy right off to expose the pins of the IC. If it is not soft enough to peel off, you can use a 400W hair dryer to heat the epoxy enough to remove it. Cut the ground trace connected to pins 34 & 35, jump pins 34 & 35 to the free end of Resistor pack RR301 (see diagram) or connect a 4.5K -15K ohm resistor from pins 34 & 35 to pin 3 of IC312 (5V regulator). this is for President/uniden Hr2510 hope this will help you |

It sounds like a perfect excuse to get a Chipswitch installed. You might want to contact them to make sure it'll work in this version of the radio before you get it done. |

if you ordered it from copper, then it can be modified. do the 1st mod listed on the mod page. shut off the radio, and hold down one of the buttons on the front face while you turn the power on. i dont know which button it is, but one of them will reset the CPU. maybe someone on here can tell us which button it is. do you have a scematic? if so, then you should be able to find out which resistor is which so you can try the second mod if the first one doesnt work. if you cant do this; then i would say that you should have someone else mod it for you. those big chips are not the place to learn your soldering/ component locating skills. why didnt you just have copper mod it for you? at this point $30 seems cheap. matt |

Fusebreaker, Thanks I went ahead and tried the pin 34&35 to +5 volts with a 10K ohm resistor and thats what it wanted to go to 11 meters. Full coverage from 26.0 to 29.999 is what this one does. It's a simple mod but i didn't want to toast the new radio and end up with a $300. paperweight. I was surprised by this chip, I couldn't find a single mod at any site that mentioned this UC-2876 CPU. I'd thought about the chipswitch, maybe later as this Lincoln ate up everything in my piggy bank. Thanks for the help guys. *note to Copper* Might edit out the wrong chip info on the Lincoln page... or not, fyi.. |
