Hi everyone. Im having a hard time deciding which radio to buy. I really want a good talker. Does anyone know if the S-9 talks better than the Omega? And what about the stock mics, do they sound good? I will be using this as a base so ease of use isnt my main concern. I like lots of buttons and features but would like the best talker for the money. Im guessing they both have the same echo boards correct? What about the freq counters, do they move with the clarifier? I am having a hard time figuring out why the S-9 is 70 more dollars but seems to have slighty less features, maybe im overlooking something? Man! that S-9 Nitro sure is pretty!! Im sorry for all the questions but im liturally changing my mind every 5 seconds!! Thanks for all the help everyone! |

IF LOOKS ARE YOUR MAIN CONCERN , GO WITH S-9 . IF FEATURES ARE MORE IMPORTANT , GO OMEGA . AS FOR RX & TX , I DON,T THINK YOU WILL FIND A DIFFERENCE . STOCK MIC IS GREAT . OMEGA HAS FREQ. DISPALY INSTEASD OF COUNTER .. YOU WON,T REGRET EITHER |

From looking at the Copper catalog all I can tell is 2 main differences. The Omega is microprocesser controlled and the S-9 is not. Omega has 5 digit freq display and the S-9 has a 6 digit freq counter which to me is a plus for SSB. I always thought the S-9 had a 5 digit. The Copper catalog has lots of typos. Personally I prefer the Omegas looks.A very unique looking rig. |

hi scooby, i never owned an omega force but I did own a delta force and they are very similar. there are pros and cons of both. i like the receiver in the s9 a little better. the board is tougher in the s9 and i think they used better components. the clarifier does change the last digit on the freq display but all the freqs are in channel banks. on the other hand, the omega force has the best stock mic i ever used (powered with 13.8 v) and memory channels that save with the mode! very good for mobile operation. the clarifier does not change anything on the display, but you can tune in 1 khz steps. they both have the same echo. although, something about the AMT on my S9 that i noticed (haven't talked to anyone else with this problem) is a slight warble on SSB mode. i don't remember this with the 2002 series delta force. another thing i never noticed with my delta force is on the s9 when applying very slight echo, i can't hear it on the AMT without putting on headphones. i noticed it when listening to another receiver. i haven't heard any other comments about this either. neither of these issues are a big deal to me. both are fine choices in my opinion, you can't go wrong with either. |

I like my Omega Force S 45. You may have heard me on 27.115, on the big road during skip time. CEF 808 and a few other's have button holed me while I was running Northern Ontario. I took the Omega mic off as when I grabbed it. It would change freq. I use a Roadd King Mic to cut back on Road noise while road on the road. Don Over the Road Trucker CEF 336 |

For me, it was the lack of memory channels and scan that changed my mind about the S-9. The Omega Force is a big talker and the recieve is excellent and quiet. When the skip is gone and no one is talking you can't tell it is on. It sounds a lot more powerful than it is. Mine will swing to 40 watts in am and ssb modes. It tunes ssb accurately and no complaints about it not having a sixth digit. I let that hold me back for awhile, but no request. It likely hears as good and talks as good as the S-9 and has more features and is cheaper. Mikefromms |

i felt the S9 was EASIER to operate while driving, but otherwise, performance of the omega should be exactly the same!!! you'll love it |
