I just bought a ft-840. I did the mod to trasmitt on 11 meters and my question is. Does this radio go off frequency when you do this mod on 11 meters. It appears that am 11 meters is off frequency on receive. I am pretty sure the other bands are pretty much right on frequency. And input anybody ever had this problem |

I've never heard of anything like that with any amateur radio. Do you have the clarifier turned off center or some other shift function enabled? Have you calibrated the display with WWV? Have you read through the general instructions for receiving? |

Forgot to ask .... Does this radio have the AM filter? If not the receiver is too narrow for am. The FT-840 is a fine radio for the average HAM. I have had mine 6 years now and it's the main HF radio in my shack. My ft-840 is set up with the CW filter ( 500 cps ) and FM board ( un needed dont wast your time ) but i opted not to get fancy TCXO even on CW i could not find a need the radio simply doesnt drift. I also have the matching MD-100 mike very nice but way too much money .... With the Radio shack DSP filter it is a hard radio to beat.......... |
