My first qoestion is on the Texas Ranger-tr-296gk radio's,are they same board and do they have the same pll(mb8719)as the old Cobra 148 gtl's?
Second question is will this mod work for the clarifier?
1= remove d-52and r-44
2= lift hot (orange)wire from board,and connect it to pin 3 of IC-4(mb3756)
3= jump both r-174,and r-175
4= lift red wire from board, and connect it to ground.
IF THIS WORK'S HOW MUCH SLIDE SHOULD I HAVE ??

I think it is the same but I have not tried it. It should give you +/- 3.5 Khz of slide..

The 296 has the RCI8719 pl chip.
As a previous owner of the 296FGK
it is not modifiable as it will
unlock the vco.Clarifier mod did
not work either.Made the radio
oscillate on ssb. |

I agree , to mod the 296 is exactly the same as the Galaxy 949 , 959. I tried one and it worked fine...Channels are about 40 up and 30 down..

I was referring to the channels only , have not tried the Clarifier mod...

Have never done the clarifier modification as stated above , I assume from the math though if you accoplish the modification , it should slide 12 down and 7 up...

NO I mean the regular clarifier mod for the 949,
being done on the 949 |
