Ok what is the correct way and level to set my modulation....?? and still be heard above the hash, trash and ducks. I am trying to prevent bleed over, and splatter, and most of all I want to keep out of my neighbor's phone and TV. This is what I have... Texas Ranger TR696 FSSB base radio, Dead key set to 2 watts swing 15 watts by Copper Elect.. I hope they did not clip anything . Galaxy base echo mic, Workman W/MOD/SWR meter, and a XForce 2x4 pill with the variable at min. dead keying at about 50 watts but swingging to 1000 watts. I also have a low pass filter on the output of the amp. Antenna and equipment grounded well I think.

WELCOME TO THE COPPER FORUM!
With you Texas Ranger 696F SSB Base Radio you can control your modulation simply by using the Mic Gain control located on the Front Panel next to the Mic Connector.
You want to stay at NO MORE than 100% Modulation and you will have no problems with it.
If your station (Radio, Coax, Jumpers, Antenna, TVI Filter, is properly set up and every piece of equipment grounded you should have no problems when running the radio barefoot.
When you add the Amp then you may find you will cause problems depending on how you have things set up.
And Nothing to worry about as The Copper Tech does NOT Clip or Remove anything.

Just keep the modulation at about 90% or so if you think you're splattering on your neighbors. I gotta think that keying down on that 1000 watt amp alone would be blanking out tv's and phones though.
Can you put rabbit ears on a bedroom tv set and key down and not mess up the tv's picture? That would be a good test i think. I seriously doubt that Copper clipped anything in the radio, Copper isn't a hatchet shop like you find at the truck stops. |

Sounds good... I will adjust the mod so it wont swing past 100%. I have no TVI problems in my house. I have two neighbors that say they hear me. My antenna is closest to their house I bought some ferrite clamps and gave them to install, but one says she still hears me.(she might just not like the antenna and will complain anyway) I have not heard from the other. I am wondering if they installed the ferrite clamps correctly.... or maybe my antenna is too close to their house. Maybe I need to put the antenna up a little higher. I have it up 40' from ground to feed point but I have eight more foot of mast that I can add... wonder if it would help??
