it's just a connex 3300 with 2 -2290's. 150 watts is all it will do. of course if you adjust the little screw under the meter you could probably get 200 or more out of it |

What is it with the obssesion with just 2 2290s,most dual final radios could drive a matched quad easily and why 2290s why not 2879s and go for broke?Bigbob |

bigbob-WE should be the DESIGNERS! you are 100% CORRECT! ALL radios are built only 1/2 way when it comes to power. they should stick with dual finals-at MOST, so they work properly with amps. yes, 2 -2290's is good to drive an 8 pill amp, but i doubt many people actually do. they try to run smaller amps, blow 'em up, get angry with the person that sold the radio to 'em.... |

Can you mode these radios to the specs you are talking about - replacing the 2290's with the 2879's or will that be to much for the rest of the radio??? |

it's really not worth the aggravation. a dual 2290 will do around 150+ or -, dual 2879's will do around 240 + or -. for a stand alone radio, that would be a better choice. but then that would be even harder to match to an amp. a single final or standard dual 1969 final radio is MUCH MUCH easier to make work with an amp-of any size! the dual 2290 radios really only work with high drive tube base amps, like klv1000p, or 8 transistor mobiles like dx1600, m800, etc. & not everyone has the capabilities($$ & knowhow) to run'em that big. the single 2290 galaxy & 40+ watt magnums are even a bigger hassle. not that it's impossible, it just takes time, patience & much trial & error! |
