I have an rci2970 (not the dx model) When i am using ssb, instead of having the clarifier at approximately the 12 o'clock position, and varying it a little to clarify people, I have to have the clarifier at 4 o'clock to get most people tuned properly. I believe that the receive may be off frequency, although i only notice this problem on ssb, and not am or fm. All am and fm stations sound as if they are exactly on frequency. The transmit section appears to be exactly on frequency according to my frequency counter as well. I bought this radio used and do not know much about it's history, but it does have the channel mod installed, and appears to be doing about 10 watts higher than rated from stock on ssb. the clarifier is not unlocked either. Is there some way that I can verify that it is the receive off frequency, and not just the clarifier's position off (if that's possible)? If so, would an allignment most likely put this radio back on frequency, or could there be much more work involved? Any help is greatly appreciated |

Kc8jpc, You may need to have the radio aligned. If you have the equipment, check here to see how to do it. http://rangerusa.com/align2950.html#70tx Steve Tech181 Tech181@copperelectronics.com |
