saw the post about finals and it got my curiosity up. On the old single final SSB rigs that I've had to replace the final in all cross referenced to a ECG-236 and I would get the ECG part since I wasn't too far from a distributor. (this was back when you could actually pick up a replacement bubble packed at Radio shack). Just wondering what is the Best Japaneese or otherwise replacement. Heard mention of 1969 finals 2312c..... which ones have the best power disipation etc..... |

I think the quality you're looking for is gain. For just a few extra watts it isn't worth the effort to change from a 1969 to a 2312c. I don't even "peak" my radios. I make sure they do what I'm allowed and that's it. The extra margin makes them reliable and able to tolerate in imperfect VSWR. I'm more worried about the radio being on frequency and having the limiters adjusted properly. |

funtimebob, per the specs, there is not a hairs's difference between the 3 transistors. ecg236 2sc1969 2sc2312 specs: gain 12db max voltage 25v max current 6A Pout @ 12v 16w Pout @ 13.8 18w Pout @ 16v 20w (note 1 website did give an 18.5w output @ 13.8v for the 2312, but that's probably just a sales gimmick imho) hopes this helps |
