Can anyone suggest a good sounding external speaker? I am looking for one that has similar sound qualities to a Motorola - without the motorola price tag!

I have looked into the Uniden and Cobra speakers out there, as well as the Texas Ranger ones... Very nice in appearance, but how do they sound?

I would need two of them , one for my scanner and the other for my Magnum 257...

Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Hey 747
I have Texas Ranger, I have used it on my Ranger 2950 and Galaxy 2517 best speaker I ever had. Very clear and crisp.Worth the money to me.Works good on scanner too.

747, if you are talking speaker for your base, why not try some stereo or mono speakers from stereo stores.

I use a twin set of Para Dynamics. They have a nice rich sound and I'm told that Para Dynamics are what Motorola used to be.You can also find the same speaker with a different name called the PROnouncer at truck stops.

I use the Uniden ext. speaker in the mobile and it works very well. I tried the little 2" X 2" X 3" (+/-) ext. speakers from the Shack, and they sounded pretty bad with the CB. I hooked them up to the ham radio and they sound pretty good. So those might work for the scanner. For the base I have an old 6" oval car stereo speaker that works great. $0.50 at a garage sale.

Uniden for the mobile, does a good job.Hollowpoint445 I agree on the big speaker! I use a Bose501 with the Cobra 142 on the base setup and it works great.
