I just got a mfj ant analyzer when I check my ant and coax I get a 1.3 Then when I check my swr through the amp (henry 2kd classic) with out the amp keyed I get 1.9 Now when I key the amp I get the 1.3 again. any one have any ideas on this? things I checked so far. coax connections inside and out of the amp. the relays dont apear burnt. all the grounds in the amp look good. |

the mfj creates its own singnal, you can adjust it for any hf freq. you want it is hooked up at the end of the line you whant to check. I tried 3 differnent jumpers with the same results |

How old is the Henry 2K? Maybe 30 years? Older radios had 50 to 100 ohm output so the older amps had the same for input. Modern amateur radios today like to see only 50 ohms. When you are using your MFJ analyzer check the impedance. Watch the SWR when you adjust for 50 Ohms. I bet that when you adjust for 50 ohms, the SWR really changes. Seems to me there where little tricks you could do, like use a jumper made from 75 ohm coax between the radio and the amp. If your radio doesn't roll back(most new amateur radios have rollback circuts when the impedance goes up to protect the finals) and the signal doesn't sound bad, go ahead and use it that way. Boy would I hate to be your neighbor with you having that Henry 2K. |
