This may be the dumbest question ever. does any of the radio manufacters produce a mobile that has am ssb with uper and lower chanels? OR is this trying to find a new mobile mad me crazy? The fm part of my radios hardly if ever gets used because of my location. If it was not for skip i would get rid of my radios. nickle

there are many of those types of radio's
RCI
Galaxy
Magnum
I-Com
are a few...
Now the top 3 are 10 meters but with a little Conversion you can have 40 channel CB and the upper and lower channels too even for AM,FM LSB,USB
Take a look as some of those radio's I listed and you might come across one you like,
Good luck
Hope this helps

Hey Bruce: That HTX-10 also looks like about 4 other radios, one was the Sidewinder-400 and another was the Blackhawk also 2 others that I can't remember the names of.
Do you know what makes the HTX-10 so different that it can't be modified.

Thanks Bruce, I thought maybe a different CPU would be the answer. I thought of it after I sent my post.

Starface: Why would you make that statement? There are several Realistic (Radio Shack) radios that are much soot after by collectors, Just to name a few.
TRC-449, TRC-457 and TRC-458 just these three are the same radio as Cobra 138/139 XLR, first model 40 channel President Grant/Washington, Pierce Simpson Simba, Robyn 510/520D. And to go on The TRC-490 is the same radio as the Cobra 142 GTL/second model Washington/Uniden Washington and Teaberry Stalker XV. Now as you can see not all Radio Shack radios are thumbs down, one just needs to do a little homework and research to find out which radios are what. I am a collector and have some of these older fine radios in my collection.
