I just bought a Cobra 19 DX III. For some unknown reason, it keeps switching back to channel 9 while I'm driving down the road. I have wiggled the "Channel 9" switch and wiggled the wires and I can't it to do it. But driving down the road, it will switch back to channel 9 all by itself. Very annoying!! Any suggestions? Or should I just send it back to Cobra? It works great other than that. Cindy2 |

Welcome to the forum Cindy2.It sounds like you may have a loose power connection. If your using a cig-lighter plug that could be the culprit,if so try having it wired directly into the fusebox or direct to the battery.the laterseries of the 19's as a defult always revert to channel 9 when powered up. tech291 CEF#291 kc8zpj |

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I checked the volt at the radio and it was 12 volts. I also wiggled every wire I could see and could not get it to change back to channel 9. I left it on all night and it was still on channel 4 when I got up. Maybe I need to be driving for it to happen? Anyway, I moved my power wire to an "always on" wire and I will try that. The first wire I tied into was a switched with the car key. Cindy2 |

Cindy2,have same radio. Whenever power up it goes to Ch. 1. I read in manual that to maintain constant channel selection as turned off the power must be constantly on(direct to battery). Just have to remember to turn off. This is an annoying feature of this radio and the Cobra handheld. Would not buy it again because of this. |

Do you techs have an opinion about this radio (Cobra 19 DX III)? I have this radio and was wondering if it is worth getting aligned and tuned. The cost of the alignment will probably be close to what I paid for the radio new. Or should I just trash it and start over with something else? Thanks. |

Kx kidd, Don't trash it! It's not a bad starter radio. Really no need to worry about an alignment(tune). They are usually just fine out of the box. Also not worth spending money to have the transmitter peaked. Might be able to get a watt or two higher output depending on the radio. Just get a great antenna, tune the antenna and it will work fine. If cb grows on you then you will out grow the radio and want something better. Put it back in the box and keep it. One day you will want to get it back out again. If you really despise the radio then sell it but whatever you do don't trash it! Kenny cef491(27.115lsb) 2sf491(27.555usb) Indiana
