I have a Uniden 520XL that just lights up and has no TX or RX. I also have a Uniden 510 that works great but the channel slector is out and you can't tell what channel your on so I was going to use this radio for parts to fix the 520. I was needing to know what part or parts is more than likly causing NO TX/RX and where the part or parts are located in the radio. I was thinking that its part C2166 thats got the Heat Sink Compound on the back side of it with a screw in the back of the radio. Any help would be great. Thnaks for you help. |

the 2166 is the final .it is your transmit . on the side of the radio should be a voltage regulator and a audio chip.check to see if you have voltages there.I can not help more than this for I have not seen this radio. |

The radio is a Uniden Pro 520 XL and on the board it says that its the 1987 model. I replaced the C2166 and now it is trying to do something. One the meter the lights are coming on with some signal so its recieving now but I can't hear anything coming from the speaker. Also the radio is now keying down but I have no audio. What else do you think needs to be replaced? I am taking the parts out of a Uniden Pro 510 they are just alike with the same board. The only differnce that I see is the Pro 520XL has a RF Gain. Thanks for any ideas. |
