Chainsawiowa,

What do you mean strong on receive and noise?

What kind of noise?

Are you using / operating it with the NB & ANL ON or OFF when you are operating it?

The more information you can give us the better we can try and help.

All of the Tune Up Information I have is listed in the Modification List to the left of the forum here and in the Review.

Hi Tech808, It just has everyone pegging the meter out. Not talking skip static but there is just tons of receive on the meter. I run an amp sometimes also and no way you could ever turn on the receive pre amp switch on it buries it all the way and is a rush of hiss. The Radio by itself just hears great it just brings in too much noise floor OH yes I have the NB ANL and the Low switch on. Any ideas ?

CSI: My 257 works great, and my only complaint to the forum is the meter. It really does not seem to reflect anything in scale. It is either peaked or doesn't reflect anything useful.

Except for the bar meter, this radio is on steriods when it comes to receive. Mine outhears my Galaxy 95T. Try that M-257 in the house with an Imax and see what all you hear and it is quiet.

What about turning the RF Gain down a little instead of turning a pot down inside the radio?

Yea Crackerjack, I do get accused of thinking too much on the common side of life... don't care too much for the book stuff...
To quote a good old song... "I'm just a simple kind of man". I'm getting too old for things to be too difficult any more.
