OK here goes how can a person make mods to a radio with out brakeing the factory seal?????or any other type of mods for that reason ??? |

I've never seen a CB radio that had a factory seal. What radio has one? My first DVD player had a factory seal which I broke when I checked the chipset it used.
There are adhesive solvents that evaporate rapidly. I can see where you could use one to loosen the tape and then be able to affix it again. |

I have this radio ranger 2985dx was to have tune up by the store at the cost of 50.00 but seal is still on it could it be a store seal?? |

ok the radio is a rci 2985dx had a tune up at 50.00 could this be a store seal???oh and a 11m mod but the reports are not very good very low audio . |

I suppose it could be from Ranger. They have comments on their website regarding their warranty and modifications, so they may have started using seals on their radios. |

heres an old famous prison trick from a friend of mine,to get the label of heat the seal with a blow dryer and very carefully pull it off with out tearing it.to get it back on heat the radio and then heat the stick place it back on the radio and heat until sticks good,smooth it back out as good as possible.If they ask why it looks different tell them you had it in a hot dump truck.

Well I have had people try this on the Warranty Seals that I have used for years here and the funny this is when they do this the Sticker does come off, BUT the word "VOID" stays on the radio. 
The Dealer or the Factory can place a Warranty Seal on the Radio.
All Radios and Other Equipment from copperelectronics.comes with a Warranty Seal placed on it by the Copper Tech.
This Protect's Copper and the Customer with the Copper Warranty.
This it to prevent people from messing things up and saying I never touched it.
And trust me this Happens a lot. 
Sorry but I just do not think anyone would be dumb enough to believe that story if you sent it back in for Warranty work.
I guess the Question is this?
If you want to take a chance on Voiding the warranty on a product then try playing with the Warranty Sticker.
Heck the worst that could happen is You VOID your Own Warranty and end up paying shipping back and forth and still have your radio messed up

I will state now, for the record "I HAVE NO INTENTION OF USING MY WARRANTY!!! I HAVE ALREADY VOIDED MY WARRANTY. AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED, I DO NOT HAVE A WARRANTY!" Now with that said, so that there is no confusion that I expect anything more from Copper Electronics or Magnum reguarding my S9, I DON'T! I did however, NEVER see a sticker or any other form of seal any where on my radio, ever! This bugs me a bit, I mean if it was supposed to have one and didn't (it didn't) what would have happend if I hadn't have voided the warranty and it broke?
I know it seems stupid to void a good warranty such as Magnums but I like working on my own radios, that's what I enjoy most about the hobby

You are 100% correct
What anyone does with their own equipment is 100% their choice. 
So far I have never seen anyone place a gun to anyone's head and say you Have to do this to your Radio, Amp, Antenna or any other piece of radio equipment.

Nothing to be confused about, somehow the Copper Tech could have been busy and just forgot to put one on it.
Since they do not Come Converted or Peaked and Tuned, you know he had it open and worked on it or it would not have been shipped out to you.
When they get an Order the radios are taken from the warehouse and placed on the shelves with your name on it in the Copper Tech's Room.
They do not leave that room for shipping Until he as done the work on them or checked them over.

Everything that I buy (radios/amps/etc) from Coppers has that sticker.
I have returned one radio and one amp, in all the years that I have used Coppers, and they both came back with new stickers.
The sticker gets replaced when they work on the equipemt as well.
It is MY PROOF that I did not "tinker" with the equipment.
If I want to tinker, I buy used and as cheap as I can. |

Actually as far as I know Copper did absolutely nothing to it before I got it, I did the conversion and everything else, I did not request conversion when I ordered and Suzane actually called me and made sure that that was what I wanted. could that be why?

I sent my kl-203 back for repair becuase it would not come on.Come to find out the wire on the ground side of my power supply broke loose LOL. A man called me and was very concerned as to what was wrong with the amp. He explained to me that it was working 100% and was just checking to make sure i did not have a problem he did not notice. Copper even paid for the shipping back to me. In my opinion copper is THE best cb ham store in the country and i refuse to buy from anyone else claiming to be better. Copper has 190% grade A customer service
THANK YOU COPPER FOR YOUR DEVOTION, To our hobby weather it be cb or ham and i hope that start selling 2 meter rigs that would be great. |

Fuesbreaker,
You purchased your Galaxy DX-959 with No Modifications done by Copper, which means you have your Original Factory Galaxy Warranty only not the additional Copper Warranty,
When the Copper Tech does modifications he will put a Copper Warranty sticker on the radio.

You can open any Ranger radio and it will not void the warranty. If your radio has the factory seal on it, you can still open the radio. BUT if you start clipping this and that and super modding this and that, and you have a problem, Ranger can refuse to service the unit under warranty. This is what they told me about my 2995DX. You can remove the seal or break it to mod the radio for 11 meters. If they don't see anything wrong, then they'll fix the unit for free. If they see clipped stuff or pots cranked wide open, then they will refuse it and send it back to you. This is what Anna Sparks from RCI emailed me and told me. I have a mod for a galaxy 33 where you install a 2879 in it. I followed the directions to the tee and still not getting it to work the radio stays keyed up. the 2166 heats up and burns so fellows HELP any suggestions, I'll even mail it out if one of you techs are willing to get it up and running.thanx cef 516 |

think of the 2879 as a very primitive amplifier being added to your radio-only inside it, not thru the SO239.
somewhere something IS wired wrong. the 2879 goes AFTER the 2166, so there should be NOTHING done to heat up the 2166.
does the radio stay keyed AFTER you key the mic, or does it key up as soon as you power it up? could be feedback keeping it keyed, could be wrong part placement, could be... |
