I've never heard anyone on 12 meters...My Lincoln is out in the shed on a shelve. Works fine. Tired of it. Maybe I'll get the chip switch one day. mikefromms |

I doubt President is discontinuing the Lincoln. They are more popular now than 15 years ago, at least stateside. They have always been popular overseas.I think the distributors are not importing them because they are on "the list". BTW Bruce is right, it is very hard to beat a 2510/2600/Lincoln with a chipswitch.I've used all 3 and occasionally still do use them with no complaints. 73 Carmen PS Is there a spell check feature on this forum?? |

"My emails to President electronics have went unanswered." They probably will stay unanswered,I've emailed President countless times to inquire about getting a new faceplate for a Jackson.I gave up after close to 2 years.Good luck getting a response. |

well i have tried other suppliers & dealers in the past and also got the same sad story as Iluvrf did on the lincolns and many other items. but i learned my lesson over the years and order my radios and equipment only from copper because for some unknown some reason they always seem to have what i want. it sure seems funny to me that while others are crying they cant get them or they quit making them or they might quit making them that copper has them. this same thing went on over 5 months ago when i ordered mine and everyone said i don't have any and i cant get any but when i called copper they were 100% honest and said they were on back order and a new shipment should be in shortly and they were right as it was less than 2 weeks and i had mine. who cares!!!!!!!! what others can or cannot get. (((copper has them and if you want one order it from copper.))) ee |

Chainsawiowa, BOTH are really great radios but the Lincoln is designed more for the HAM Bands with plenty of features the 257 does not have and the President Lincoln allows you to add the Chip Switch (modification) which will add even more features & coverage. President Lincoln FEATURES: CW,AM,FM,LSB,USB UC-1201A chip (1) MRF455 Transistor Channel selector. Manual or Electronic up and down keys. Frequency tuning. Volume with power ON/OFF control. Squelch. LCD display w/ (RX/TX, mode, SWR, S/RF, Frequency, channel, band). Jack for external speaker,PA , CW key. Frequency lock Loc/DX Selector. Mode Selector Span / VFO Scan function. RF power. Mic gain. NB/ANL switch. Roger beep switch. Clarifier/RIT Control SWR calibration knob. Dimmer key. Band Selector. A/B/C/D TX/RX indicator 185 Width. 60 Height. 250 Depth. 7.4" Width x 2.4" Height x 9.8" Depth 4.4 lbs Prersident Lincoln Magnum 257 Magnum 257 10 Meter Radio Frequency Coverage 28.000 - 29.699 MHz RF Power Output 30 Watts PEP Modes AM, FM, USB, LSB Microprocessor Controlled Variable RF Output Power 5 Digit LCD Frequency Display Scanning Microphone Dimensions 2(H) x 6(W) x 8.5(D) in Night Illuminated Display Frequency Scan Automatic Call Frequency Control (FM 29.600 MHz) Magnum 257 It depends on what features you want in a radio and on what bands you are going to be using it on. I have Both the 257 and the Lincoln and love them both. But they are two completely different radios and have many different features. Hope this helps, Lon Tech808 CEF808 N9OSN

There is no "10 Meter" or "Export" radio that would beat up on a Lincoln/2510/2600. They're great radios. With a Chipswitch there just isn't any competition. The older models with an MRF477 final will do about 25 watts PEP stock, and you can turn them up to nearly 40 watts PEP. The newer models with the MRF455 also do about 25 watts PEP stock and can be turned up higher - I don't own a new one so I can't say how far. I understand that the 257 is popular, but in the days before the internet when it took actual effort to get information there were clubs, newsletters and books about modifying the 2510. And it inspired someone to create an aftermarket microcomputer. I don't know of any other radio before or since that has done that. |

Chainsawiowa, Sorry but No. The Copper Tech does not do the Chip Swith Modification or any other Modification that would Void your Factory Warranty. Lonb Tech808 CEF808 N9OSN
