I have a couple of questions for the Techs out there… First a radio question, on my new Magnum 257 when I adjust the variable power I can see the difference on the meter from max. power (full clockwise) to min. power (full counter clockwise) when I key up the mic. However on my older 257 it never changes, the meter still shows max power after I turn the variable power full counter clockwise. Second a Amp question, What kind of power do you get out of a two pill amp with the markings on the pills are SO1446? I did see some other markings of 252H on one of the pills and 235S on the other, they also have a manufacture logo of (what it looked like) either ATJ or AIJ. The old eyes just couldn't make out the markings exactly… Any help would be wonderful… Thanks, TomCat in VA CEF217... |

Thanks Bruce. Which numbers tell you that, is it the "SO1446"? Also anything about the Magnum power meter control question? TomCat in Va CEF217 |

Bruce, do you think that my variable power control on the older Mag 257 might be loose or not working right, if I don't notice the meter change when I key up and turn the power down? Maybe a cold solder joint?? Thanks, TomCat in Va CEF217 |

Bigbob ..... There are 3 way to run amps ...... 1) CCS = 90 at cb 70 at 6 meters 2) ICAS ( about ) 120 CB 100 6 meters 3) BBS This is NEW on the copper forum! Bigbob wii get credit for this .... the MAX power output is = to the point at which the device MELTS - one degree. This is why they call it a 1446 ....... as in 1446 WATTS! I LIKE YOUR THINKING BOB ! ( LOL )

I have heard the sd1446 is not much good below 21 megs because of difficulty in controlling occillation, that said, rfparts says to use low beta pills, but all I've ever seen is high beta,so these transistors are truly for a very narrow band of frecs.Bigbob |
