I have an Old trucker 400 amp What do I have to do to run this amp on HF freq?I tried it on 10 meter and Very high SWR I tried using a tuner and that didnt work either. Is it true a real 11 meter amp?I cant find any schematics or anything.any Help would be very useful.I also have a xl 350 cobra amp. most transistor amps are broadbanded enough to cover at least 5-10mhz of spectrum, or more. assuming it's at least a few years old, it shouldn't need any mods done to it to cover up to 30 mhz, from 20-25 or even lower. need to try to figure out if trouble is with amp or feedlines/antenna. how high are the swr's? did you check swr's with amp out of line? with amp in line, but OFF? with amp in line & ON?

tha anntena is g5rv so I have to use a mfj 949e.I can tune the anntena flat on 80 through 10 meter's but when I turn on the amp the swr jump to infinity and I can't get it to tune lower via the tuner.Yes I did be carful to use the proper power setting when using the tuner with the amp.I have a very good earth ground on all pieces of equipment.with amp inline but off the swr are fine. All problems come when I turn it on whether that be on low or high power. thanks for any help! |
