if you're looking for absolute perfection on a scope, a steady tone generated at the correct freq is what you're looking for. if you're just quickly peaking it on a watt meter, try the 'aaaaaah', also, try a differently pitched tone, saying 'aaayyyyyyyye' and even 'eeeeeeeeeeee' & see what different peaks you get. a count of 1 to 10 after peaking 1st on each of the different pitches will give you an idea of whether or not you peaked to the normal range of YOUR voice. not perfect, but if that's all you got, it'll do. if the 2290 is actually the final stage of the 'normal' radio, then yes, it could be volted & npc-rc modded. if it's designed as a separate amplifier, then the 'true' final of the radio would be modded to get max performance from the 2290, say 1-30 watt carrier & 80+ swing. have never thought to attempt it with such a radio, so would have to look at schematic & radio to see if it's feasible, or even possible. |

well thats what i was thinking because it has a final 2sc2312 and then the amp so if the final could be volted that would driver the amp more. Not sure if you see the inside of one but have to do some looking around and see whats what |

FINAL BIAS: (2SC2312) Set Radio to: Band E, Ch.1 Mode to USB MIKE GAIN at minimum Connect DC Ammeter between TP7 and TP8. VR11 Key TX & adjust VR11 for 25-30mA. AMP BIAS: (2SC2290) Set Radio to: Band E, Ch.1 Mode to USB MIKE GAIN at minimum Connect the red lead of the DC Ammeter to the (+) terminal on chassis mounted terminal connector next to DC power jack. Unplug the red wire connector from the AMP pcb and connect the black lead of the DC Ammeter to that post None Check for 50-60mA. Replace TP7-TP9 Jumper PCB. RF AMP CHAIN: Replace shorting pcb. Set mode to AM. Set RF power switch to HI . Connect wattmeter to ANT output. L44, L43, L42, L40, L44 Key TX & adjust (in order) for maximum RF output . Recheck power across entire freq range. Readjust L44 for minimum SSB distortion. SSB CARRIER BALANCE: Set mode to USB Set RF power switch to HI MIKE GAIN to minimum. Connect wattmeter to ANT output. VR6 Key TX, adjust for min. carrier leakthrough on scope or wattmeter. Recheck on LSB mode. If necessary readjust for best balance of sideband suppression between LSB & USB SSB APC: Set mode to USB Set RF power switch to HI MIKE GAIN to minimum. Connect DC voltmeter from pcb ground to TP7 VR17 In TX, adjust for 13.0vdc SSB ALC: Mode to USB. MIKE GAIN to maximum. Inject two-tone audio signal of 700Hz and 1900Hz, 30 mV to Mic input. didn't see this one either , but that's pretty much the link i sent, Cdc181. possibly either the driver or final, 2166 or 2312 is bad. |

I'll go back and double check the bias on both but i see the driver says 75ma-100 so what would be good around 80ma |

Sorry but no. I have never owned, used or worked on one before. Maybe another Copper Forum member who has experience with the 93T will be able to jump in and offer some help/advice. Lon~Tech808 CEF#0808/HAM#001/CVC#0002 Tech808@copperelectronics.com
