I run a texas star modulator driving a xforce 400. I need a 1watt key to drive the texas star. Should I have my radio tuned down or should I install a swing kit. I have a uniden pc78, I think im gonna buy a power mic to work my limiter a little more |

Audiophile73, Why would you need a 1 watt dead key? The Specifications for the Texas Star Modulator are below and they call for 4 to 20 watts. Texas Star Amplifier Specifications Just wondering? Lon Tech808 CEF808 N9OSN |

i need a low dead key from the texas star to drive my xforce 400, could I leave my radio at a 4watt dead key drive and turn the amp down to the dead key i need. I just really don't know what to do. People tell me to put a swing kit, but I rather run a good power mic and keep the limiter on |

audiophile, check my response to your question on the radios-mobile thread. without a swing mod, your xforce will show more swing then a texas star 500 & a radio with a swing mod....set up your equipt without swing mod 1st, & see what you get. i'm sure you'll like it without the mod. just set up everything right so nothing goes POOF! |

yes keep limiter in plce. get agood power mic and worthat limiter. if you remove yourlimiter youll have a splatter box. just a simple tune up using pots already inradio thats all no npc mod or swing mod they all give ya a splatter box |

I WONDER HOW IS IT THAT A (1) PILL AMPLIFIER CAN HANDLE A 4W D.K. AND A SWING OF UP TO 20W? MY TEXAS STAR MODULATOR W/3 BUTTONS WOULD HANDLE AT MAX A 2.5W D.K. AND IT WOULD DEADKEY ABOUT 70W AND SWING UP TO 100 WHICH IS PERFECT FOR THE IDEA THAT YOU HAVE 2/3 IN THE D.K. AND 1/3 IN SWING. SO THAT MEANS THAT ALL I COULD SWING INTO MY MODULATOR FROM A 2.5W D.K. IS AN EXTRA 1.25 W FOR A TOTAL OF 3.75W P.E.P. WHICH DONT WORK. YOU DO REALIZE THAT A 4WATT INPUT AND 100WATT OUPUT IS ON CW NOT AM! |

Audiophile73, if u want just a little more modj, and want to go to the trouble for it, lift one end of the limiting diode and add a 1k 1/8w resistor in series with the diode (please check for splattering) |
