Hi, I just traded for a couple of brand-new in the box Midland 77-120ESP2 radios. I like the radios, and I'm aware that there is a modification that will allow them to do either 120 or 400 channels. Unfortunately, I can't find the mod anywhere. If anyone knows what needs to be done to modify my Midlands, I'd be very grateful if you would post that information here. Thanks in advance! |

Hi Graymatter! Thanks for the pointer - Unfortunately, the CB Trick guys don't list this particular model. Oh well, it'll make good trading material, I guess... |

Good news - I traded these radios for a really nice Uniden Grant! I'll stick with the Unidens and Presidents from now on... |

Yes sir! The Grant is my favorite of ALL CBs ever produced! The guy that traded his to me hated all of the knobs on it, and just wanted something simple to put in his trucks. Good deal as we both ended up happy!

http://www.smlec.com/cb/midlandmods.htm Check out this web sight for the mods it gives you step by step instructions on how to do the mod for either the 120 channels or 400 channels or both also other midland models from 77-800 to the 79-290 thanx to whoever it was that gave me this sight I now have many channels in my 77-285 this sight also gives tune up information such as power and modulation. these line of midlands were made at the factory purposely to have these channel mods, A fly on the wall told me that Midland had been fined by the fcc and that making these radio's modifiable was there way of getting back at them, of course they could not let the fcc know that was what they were doing so they let the info (leak out) if you know what I mean...... |
