Bc910, Wellllllllllll, I personally never looked at or even seen one until the Forumaster sent one to the 1st Sargant for a Valentines Day present. Right out of the box after we applied power the first words were OHHHHHH IT's SOOOOOOOOOO PRETTYYYYYYYYYYY. anf then the words, It's is so SMALL AND CUTEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. So we left it hooked up and put in it line and talked with 5 to 8 CEF Members and Friends and NO ONE could tell the Difference! And the blue lighted face and antenna (the whole darn thing lights up when talking) is neat and easy to see. Shirley the 1st Sargant is doing a REVIEW on it for the Forumaster and she will have more information and the specs and testing of it for the Copper Forum Members. Lon Tech808 CEF808 N9OSN

1861, Honestly I cannot say as it is the 1st Sargants radio and she will not let me TOUCH it. I am trying to talk her into letting me put a KL-60 with it. Lon Tech808 CEF808 N9OSN |

ATTENTION ALL FORUM MEMBERS: My thoughts have been confirmed. Now we ALL know why she is called the First Sargant! Lon, my good friend, I can see where you have not only learned, but have remembered. First Sargant, we look forward to hearing and reading your review! Keith in Atlanta CEF 150 And STILL proud of it! PS: KB, see how easy it is? |

Why didn't Magnum put the big round meter on the S-3? I detest those retangular meters.... mikefromms |

Mikefromms, Gee that is an EASY question to answer. Because Sam Lewis Owner of RF Limited / Magnum International did not want to. Lon Tech808 CEF808 N9OSN |

What about the Galaxy 48? Any opinions about them? I've heard someone say that the 48 sounds muffeled (spelling?) but I've not heard one so I don't have an opinion yet. |

A friend of mine might buy one of those S-3. I've done the research for him. He doesn't care about the ugly meter. I love my Magnum 257 in spite of the bar type meter. But for a bar type meter it is a big one and it is loose as a goose. The thing has hears for real though, in spite of the loose reading (which I like) and the thing is a talker. It will blow clear loud smoke on both am and ssb. mikefromms |

That I will have to hear! I've been told, "I told see how you could be any louder." I run the radio mic gain wide open and the DM-452 is cranked wide open inside. No over modulating. Just clear loud, "hey, you got a box on?" audio. mikefromms |

P.S. That friend of mine ended up buying my 257 and I'm reminded regularly of how good I sounded on that radio. Oh, I still sound good, I have a Magnum OmegaForce S-45. But I've had it over a year now (must be a record for me) and it's time for a new face in radio. Let's see Magnum S-9 250 watt....Ranger RCI 2085DX before they're all sold out...RCI 2985dx...Maybe I will own them all before I die. LOL. Mikefromms |
