Yogi,

I have no idea what the XFORCE XT 400 has inside it but below is DIRECT quote from Sam Lewis Owner of RF Limited / Magnum International.

USE WITH AN AMPLIFIER

The Magnum ~ S-3, S-6, S-9, and Omega Force S-45 was designed to work with a 4 Pill Amplifier like the Texas Star 500 or Similar Amplifier that uses 4 - 2SC2879's.

"DO NOT ATTEMPT" to run the Magnum S-3, S-6, S-9 or the Omega Force S-45 with any 2 PILL Amplifier!

Also if you use the Magnum S-3, S-6, S-9 or Magnum Omega Force S-45 with an Amplifier that uses an Exciter/Driver you MUST have the radio adjusted for a Dead Key of 4 watts and NO More than 12 watts PEP.

It is Highly Suggested that you have a professional do this.

Hope this helps,

Lon

808 is 100% correct yogi.
HOWEVER, the custom made amps, as xforce can be considered, are an exception to that rule. if you set 'em up carefully. the xt400m uses not 1, BUT 2-2290 driver transistors. OUCH! as per xforce, if you back the S9 down to NO MORE THAN 3 watts & make sure the peak is UNDER 30 watts, you will be fine on AM. you should be able to accomadate those requirements just using the controls on the front of the radio. as for SSB, unless you ordered it from xforce & requested modding for SSB, getting it to work without trashing the amp in just a couple of keys ain't gonna happen. a class c x400hdm can be made to sound alright on SSB & should get you some more wattage then the dx500v because the x400hdm will handle the full output of the S9, swing & dead key. you may have to tweak the controls on the radio to get it to sound good on SSB. the magnaforce mf600 will also work full swing & dead key, the mf400 will work full swing but with the dead key at less then 4 watts.
for simplicity & ease of operation, the texas star dx500v is the way to go. just keep AM dead key at 3 watts.

LON-did i miss anything from you, i see your mention of the S6, did you mention it specifically anywhere else on the forum? what about the S12? just curious as to the 'truth', and possible availability dates!
