I'm looking to get back into it. I had a 148GTL and a Silver Eagle with a Skipper 300A amp and a Super Penatrator 5/8 wave ground plane 45' in the air that easily talked to my quad state area.Well I still have the Super Penetrator and now I want a new base and MIC. So tell me if money where not an object what would you buy????????? I want a smokin base with massive audio!!!!! |

No question about it i would get an RCI-2995 base. It's the best on the market and then i would get a Tennesee Walker 10,000 watt base amp for about $7700 and to top it off i would get an Astatic Silver Eagle mic oh and a 200 foot tower and a Maco Super Laser 500 beam antenna. There's the ultimate cb system. |

c'mon bruce, i'd do it the same way-just differently!:-) really though usa2112, that would be an excellent system to use! unfortunately, the classics of the 70's & 80's aren't being made anymore, but there are lots of good things out there. keep the penetrator, get a nice new quality piece of coax & build from there. all depends on what you wanna do, texas ranger 296 on a power supply or texas ranger 696 base to get you started, both are AM/SSB and modifiable if that's what you want, & are basically a cobra 148 to boot! or export radios aplenty, many amps to choose from...what a world we live in! |

when i said that they thought I was crazy! on the other hand back in the '70's there was a set of stacked moonraker 6's here. he moved to the carolina's & built 2 beams over 50' long before getting out of radio. he wasn't crazy enough to stack them...i don't think. |

Well, why not the best coax money can buy to go to that super penetrator and buy a 20 power supply and Magnum S-9 mobile. Wouldn't take up as much space on desk and it would be loud... mikefromms |
